AESTHETIC AND FUNCTIONAL RESTORATION OF POSTERIOR TEETH USING COMPOSITE RESINS
Direct restoration of posterior teeth using composite resins is, in most cases, the most convenient treatment option for dental caries, as it is the quickest, least invasive and easiest to carry out. All that is required is an understanding of the morphology of the tooth to be restored, the working protocol, the layering technique and the materials suited to the treatment objectives. During this workshop, you will learn about: - aspects relating to the morphology of posterior teeth and the composite resins that ensure strength for restorations in the posterior region, - isolation of the operating field, - adhesion, - the restoration protocol, - the adaptation and finishing of composite resin restorations, - the instruments and materials that provide predictability. During the practical session, we will practise the direct restoration of a Class I cavity using the cusp-by-cusp layering technique, under rubber dam isolation.

During this workshop, you will learn:
- Advantages and disadvantages of rubber dam isolation
- Components of the rubber dam system
- Tips & tricks
- Step-by-step techniques for easy and efficient rubber dam placement
Hands-on session: We will practice rubber dam placement in various clinical situations commonly encountered in everyday dental practice.

The aesthetics of direct restorations in the posterior region
A common cause of damage to the integrity, aesthetics and function of the dental arches is untreated or incorrectly treated caries. Direct restoration using composite resins is, in many cases, the treatment of choice, as it is minimally invasive and easy to perform clinically.
The key to success lies in understanding dental morphology, the correct choice of materials and working protocol, as well as the use of simple and predictable layering techniques.
This presentation will cover:
The principles of reproducing the natural morphology of teeth using direct restoration techniques;
Criteria for selecting and using composite materials based on their characteristics;
Layering techniques for achieving aesthetic and functional restorations;
The main factors contributing to the success and longevity of direct restorations.
The presentation emphasises minimally invasive approaches and the achievement of aesthetic, functional and predictable results in direct restorations in the posterior region.
🇷🇴Errors in Prosthodontics
In prosthodontics, minor errors in approach can occur at every stage. Small mistakes that arise along the way accumulate and can cause real difficulties in the final stages of treatment, leading to intraoperative stress and even compromising the results. I will outline common errors in prosthodontics and how we can avoid them to ensure a pleasant and predictable clinical experience.
🇷🇴Digital Dental Imaging: Precision, Optimisation and Artificial Intelligence
The presentation will cover the evolution of digital dental imaging, the principles of radiological safety and the optimisation of image quality through advanced artefact reduction technologies. It will also highlight the role of digital processing and the applications of artificial intelligence in image analysis and the generation of AI-assisted reports.

From scanning to restoration: How digital errors affect the success of prosthetic treatment
Digital workflows have become an integral part of modern prosthetic practice. For the generation currently entering the profession, intraoral scanning, CAD design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) are no longer technologies of the future, but everyday working tools. However, access to these technologies comes with a pitfall: the impression that software can correct everything. In reality, the accuracy of a restoration is limited by the quality of the initial data, and the optical impression is the foundation upon which the entire process is built.
This presentation aims to show students where and what goes wrong most frequently in intraoral scanning. Dr Andreea Custură will address the main sources of error. These include insufficient isolation of the scanning area, which allows saliva, blood and cervical fluid to distort the scan. Next is inadequate gingival retraction, which leaves the subgingival margins unrecorded. Incorrect scanning strategies will also be discussed, including frequent image-overlap errors with full arches, difficulties caused by reflective surfaces and soft-tissue mobility, as well as errors in occlusion recording.
Each type of error will be linked to specific clinical consequences: poor marginal fit, incorrect proximal and occlusal contacts, lengthy chairside adjustments and remakes that cost time, money and the patient’s trust. Finally, the presentation will propose a practical protocol that is easy to apply right from the early years of study.

🇷🇴The perfect plan, the imperfect scan: where the digital workflow breaks down
The workshop covers this entire process from start to finish. In the first part, Dr Tiberiu Andrei presents a structured method for treatment planning: from diagnosis and initial analysis, to setting objectives, sequencing the stages and selecting therapeutic solutions. The plan thus becomes a clear list of requirements that the subsequent stages must adhere to.
In the second part, Dr Andreea Mihaela Custura demonstrates what happens when the intraoral scan fails to convey these requirements. The most common errors are discussed: unclear preparation margins, moisture and bleeding, incorrect occlusal registrations, missing areas in the scan, image overlap errors and incorrect positioning of scan bodies. For each, the presentation highlights the consequence for the restoration and how it can be prevented in clinical practice.
